First stop on book tour, McNally Robinson, Saskatoon, August 17th, 2015

I cannot wait to kick off my first book tour. I begin in Saskatoon with a reading at McNally Robinson, 7 pm, August 17th, 2015 at 3130 - 8th Avenue, (8th Street at Circle Drive), in the Travel Alcove. I like the idea of being in the Travel Alcove as 'travel' has been a big part of my life. I have a thing for airports which began as a child when my father was an Air Traffic Controller in Goose Bay, Labrador. Nothing was more exciting than visiting him in the tower and walking the tarmac. In those days there was not all the security we have now so we were granted access to the hangers and the airplanes. I went on to work for an airline for a time (the photo is from 1985 in my CP Air uniform at Edmonton Airport). Guess you could say it is in my blood...

My life has also been one of inner travel. When I began meditation and contemplation nearly thirty years ago it saved my life. Healing is an arduous prospect, and without the solid foundation of a spiritual life it can get pretty rocky. Years later when I began writing I found the added bonus that inner journeying brings forth "good medicine" and has definitely deepened my connection to my poetic voice.

Saskatchewan is dear to me as I visited there often as a child and young woman. My grandmother and grandfather had a farm in Chelan, a tiny town near Porcupine Plains. My mother was born in Wynyard, Saskatchewan. I still have family there. Some of whom will be at the reading. Please join us at the McNally Robinson store, where I will read from my first book of poetry, page as bone ~ ink as blood. ~ All my Relations ~ Jónína
